Planning a layoff?

30 percent of your people will find a new job in a month.

The other 70 percent will need five months or more to find a job.

The longer someone is out of work, the more difficult it becomes to find a job.

As a result, many will eventually:

• Look for a lower position than the previously held.

• Look for a job in a different field or occupation.

• Look for part-time work.

• Look for work under the table.

After six months, these job hunters are officially referred to as, “The Long-Term Unemployed.”

Many hiring managers are hesitant to interview them for their job openings. They feel that these long-term unemployed were probably laid off due to poor performance.

Hi. I’m Harry Dahlstrom. I wrote Surviving A Layoff.

When writing it, I wanted people to know they’re not alone. Each year, millions of people lose their jobs when their employers have a business slow-down, move, or close the business. In Surviving A Layoff, I wanted to give them a simple, easy, plan to rebuild their confidence, manage their finances, and move off the unemployment rolls quickly.

Surviving A Layoff is NOT another  250-page textbook.

It’s the size of a news magazine--8 by 10 inches with 48 pages. You can read it, cover to cover, in an hour or so and get started that very same day. The chapters are short, easy to read, easy to use, and they include material you won’t find anywhere else.

Here are five important topics included in Surviving A Layoff.

  1. How to cope with the emotional stress of losing your job. How to tell your family. See the number of job openings and average wages for the largest 200 occupations in the USA. Then, use the step-by-step plan to get the job you want.
  2. Four ways to manage your bills so you can focus on the job hunt, not the bill collectors (see page 8).
  3. Just fill in the blanks to create a resume showing that you are the solution to a new hiring manager’s needs (page 22).
  4. How to side-step other job hunters and win job interviews and job offers with little competition--in half the usual time (page 26). This is also the preferred method to help the long-term unemployed find new jobs.
  5. Make a great impression by showing that you are friendly and prepared, while answering 50 tough interview questions with ease (pages 38, 44). Plus so much more.
